some fun facts about how we tag because now i have an excuse to talk about it

we try to tag as many spelling variants as we can for terms in order to make things easier to find!! so we'll tag British and USAmerican spellings of stuff like gray/grey, z/s, etc! we'll also tag regional variants like soda/pop and chips/crisps! we'll tag spelling errors that were made in the post as well as the correct spelling

things that have hyphens in them will get tagged with the hyphen, a version with a space instead of a hyphen, and no space or hyphen at all. this is kind of a holdover from how Tumblr tagging used to work, since hyphens used to not work in tags, but we still do it because.... idk why actually

combo flags will usually get tagged as "[term1] [term2]" *and* "[term2] [term1]"

slashes get replaced with hyphens. so "she/her" turns into "she-her". this is because slashes in tags make those tags extremely difficult to search through

Can you take us through your process of writing fic? Like, when you do it, how you plan, what you do if you're having trouble with it. Thank you!

I can try, but I’m afraid there’s not really much... “process”.

Oneshots and multi-chapter fics start the same. I have an idea and want to write it.

Sooo I create a new document and do the header first. What characters will go well into this idea? What tropes/tags will fit into it? Write the summary - so I can put the idea into proper words; a short elevator pitch, so to speak. Pick a title and a subtitle.

Now, none of that is set in stone. Often times, the summary needs to be fully changed before posting because the story turned completely out different. Sometimes, tags - especially the smutty ones - change, depending on whether the fic took a fluffier turn and I decided against including smut, or if it took a smuttier turn than expected. Characters may be cut or added.

But it’s overall a good first outline, to see where this is headed.

And... then I write.

Sometimes, motivation has it flowing well and I can wrap a shot in one day. If not, it’ll... drag out. Because getting back into on the next day, or the day after, always gets harder.

Especially beginnings are always peculiar. Either I really picture the entrance well and can just write it out the way I want, or the idea I have for the story is more down the road and I struggle with finding both an entry point and a way to get to where I want to be.

Middle part’s the easiest, that’s usually where the core idea I had lays.

Endings can be a bitch because I always struggle with when to end a thing. Usually, it’s just... after they get together - they get together, are dating for a bit, I include a sex-scene to round it up. I’m aware I got that scheme going. But especially in fics without smut, or fics where I include more of the relationship, it’s always tougher to find a natural end to the story. It’s why I started writing in page numbers. A story got either 3, 5, 7, 10, 15, 20 or 25 pages. So if what I wnat to say goes past 3 pages, I’ll find a way to round it up by the end of page 5, etc.

If a fic hasn’t found its ending by 25, the fic gets split up into chapters because I don’t think a oneshot should be longer than 20k.

If I actually set out for a chaptered fic, you may notice that my total chapter count in my multi-chapter fics is the same as with the page-count of my oneshots. I’m... uh... peculiar about numbers. A chapter has either 5 pages or 7 pages, depending on the fic - with some fics, I want to say too much to fit 5 pages.

The beginning is the same as with oneshots though; setting the header. For multi-chapter fics though, I do an additional chart of the characters and what they do/where they belong. Color-coding by alpha/beta/omega, or by species (in supernatural AUs), sorted into lists of who goes where.

It always feels weird to try and describe this, so here’s an example, the chart from “The Prince of Pluto”:

First row are the upperclassmen, second row are Percy and Nico’s grade, the row below are their upcoming underclassmen, then the teachers/Parents, then Percy’s family so I can keep track of what ABO designation they have and what color their fur is, next the royals of Pluto, lastly for reference our solar system in order of closest to the sun so I don’t always have to look up what planet is which planet’s neighbor; will come in handy later on in the story.

Bold are alphas, italics are omegas, regular are betas. Colored background relates to what planet of origin they are from. The / between names indicate ships, the & indicate who’s whose roommate. The characters whose names are written in green and are underlined are on Nico and Percy’s team.

This kind of thing is immensely helpful for multiple-chapter stories that I’ll be writing for months and months to come. That way I don’t have to keep track of who rooms with whom, what the side-pairings for this fic were, what colors tails or fur have, who’s in which class.

Because I hate inconsistency. And I give Riordan a whole lotta flag for his. So I do everything in my powers to reduce any continuity error as much as possible in my own writing.

Now, with these things set out, I start... writing. Always first jut the prolog so I get a feel for it. Maybe make some notes in what I want in the first chapter already. Usually include a longer pitch, or rather a list of bullet-points of things that I want to include later on, at the end.

It always takes a while to get proper footing in a fic but after a while, I usually start to plan ahead - put short notes down for the next chapter, the chapter after that, etc. Usually with a chapter-count in mind. Granted, I often times do not adhere to that and end up making a fic longer than originally planned, but oh well.

And then I... well, again, write.

Now that we went through my process, on to your other question!

What I do when I have problems. Usually I can be found in the group chat with @kimmycup and @kunfyouzed whining to them both and running my problem by them. Often times, I don’t even really... need input? Sometimes, it just helps to write it all out and you can see where the problem lays yourself. Other times, I am very very grateful for their suggestions! <3

Sometimes, it also helps to just... put the thing aside. I really struggled with my Jagnus mer AU for Writer’s Month because I couldn’t decide on the approach. After rewriting the beginning trice, I just put the fic aside and wrote three others first, then came back to this one with fresh eyes.

If one fic doesn’t work for me the way I want it, I focus on a different one instead. And if it... continues not working for me, I scrap the idea occasionally too.

it was !! it helped an awful lot, i came out of it a better person. someone more confident. and while i still get my bad days, i'm happier and in a better place mental health wise because of therapy. i've had anxiety attacks since therapy but they're less frequent :) i agree and i wish it was less expensive. one of my close friends who lives in america can't get therapy because it's too expensive for her :(

yeah that's not worth the stress <//3 i'm really worried about going back into education when i figure out what i wanna do with my life bc i don't cope well with stress. stress makes me cry, and it makes me not eat :(

honestly I AM SO EXCITED !! i am praying for nice weather :( our weather this month has been storms, snow, rain, coldness and ice :((( i used to be really active but when lockdown hit for us, it put me back inside and i became comfortable with that <//3

i used to work Sundays in my old job and honestly? kinda liked them. it was always dead so there was more chat, people ordered pizza and we'd be lucky if we had two calls. it was bliss <3 my current job aren't open on Sundays. just Monday to Saturday. but we're on a 5 week rotation so i only work one saturday every 5 weeks so it's not bad !! 🌿 aw that's amazing !! i hope that continues for you 💞 i'm off today because this week is my saturday shift so i'm just chilling today ❤️‍🔥

speaking of caffeine, i had a french vanilla drink today (and ofc i got the smallest size) because i was so utterly sleepy during my first two periods at school and guess what it did to me (”: i ended up taking like 5 naps throughout the day because i felt so exhausted... thankfully my anxiety didn’t go up the roof but i think that’s purely because i just slept through whatever emotions i had LMFAO i thought it would keep me up and it would fix my need to take a nap in the middle of the day but unfortunately, it only messed it up more ;; hopefully i’ll be able to recover (planning to sleep early tonight to see how that goes) 

a bit of a tangent off that top but i used to obsessively drink hot chocolate as though it would keep me up... (<- still does that tbh) PAHHAH hot chocolate is super sweet so it’s not like it actually does anything but i think i convinced myself it does so therefore, i end up do staying up whenever i drink it (placebo effect at its finest) 

ahh.. i think the way that therapy works in any north american system sucks ass LOL (pardon my language) i’m thankful for those who acc are helpful and are beneficial to people’s lives but i truly think people preaching that ‘mental health support is accessible to anyone’ are slightly overreaching (not to be pessimistic) but i won’t go too much into that and rant about my personal experience (”: once again, i’m glad you were able to get the help you needed and come out of it as a better person <3 

i’m really glad i did end up dropping the course ! i have more free time to work on other things and actually begin investing time into healthier work habits/schedule (<- is dying as we speak) but i’m grateful nonetheless for the window of opportunity to finally be able to make a noticeable change in my bad habits.... oh no ): please take it easy... if things ever get too hard, please remember to take a step back and take care of yourself. obviously that’s easier said than done but still important nonetheless.

Hi there. I have a question. I want to SUE my Car insurance company because they refuse to pay for my stolen car which is been more then 6 months and still hasn't been recovered. I was paying full coverage for about 4 months till the moment my Range Rover 1998 was stolen. After filing proper claims i get a letter from my insurance that they denied the claim. The reason why was because i misrepresented myself. and what they meant by that was that when i signed the contract i selected NO in a question ( Has your license ever been suspended or revoked) Now let me explain how this happened. I got the insurance thru my broker. Everything was done by phone. My broker happened to be family of dear friend of mine. At the time i asked for insurance my driver license was suspended already suspended and the reason why was because of child support for which i was going thru courts with my ex. First i decided to insure my car liability and my car was paid in full. On the liability contract it wasn't any question regarding my driver license either was suspended or not. After a week or so i thought to myself that if i get in a accident god forbid and it was my fault i have to may myself for damages and you know for such a car would be very expensive so i asked my broker if i can changed it to full coverage and so they did. on the day i did the change the girl that worked for my broker and assisting me asked me Klodian you are aware your license is suspended. I said yes and i explained the reason y. So she found this insurance company for a low price and she emailed me the contract to sign and fax it to her. now under the questions which i saw of course latter after i was denied claim i saw they were marked all NO and that was done on computer not hand writing. which of course in this case was done by the girl that helped me. Now my broker told me that insurance company should had run your driving record before they issue insurance to you and if they done that they were gone see your driver lisence was suspended. But when my broker asked them why they didnt run it Their answer was that they trusted me based on the contract i signed which to my opinion is BS. Now i want to sue them and all the lawyers they refuse to get my case and my believe is because my car is worth about $4800.00 and they don't see how they can make money out of me and i don't have to pay them up front. Now if i go on small claim max i can go is $3000.00 ????

My question is about my car insurance renewal quote. I got my renewal quote from esure, last year I paid 357 with 7 years no claim discount, and with full uk licence held for just under 4 years. Can I force insurance to pay for rental car if they take too long to make a decision after assessment?

First off I am in CA and the other liable insurance is Farmers or 21st century. For some reason Farmers is handling the claim. Ok, so I was in an accident in which the other party was at fault. As such their insurance has accepted liability. I have already taken my car get an assessment by one of their representatives at a repair place. But do to their stupidity in a few instances, its taking a long time for them to make a decision as to repair my car or call it a total loss. So because of that, in the mean time I am forced to drive my car which I do not feel comfortable driving in. The passanger seat belt doesn't work so I can't commute to school like I usually do. Bottom line is a have been patient when they did their investigation and everything, but its been a while now and my car is still not even in a shop to get fixed. In order to maybe speed up the process and make me feel safer, can I just get a rental car already force the other insurance to pay? After all they are completely liable since it was their driver that was at fault. Why do I have to wait day after day, driving a ruined car, while they take their sweet time making their BS decisions? I know that they legally have to pay for a rental while my car gets repaired, but again they are taking time simply deciding if its a loss or not.
